David Gemmell’s Rigante series is an epic fantasy saga spanning a thousand years, following a proud people through conquest, rebellion and the struggle to preserve their identity. Drawing on Celtic history and the experiences of the Scottish Highlands and Ireland, Gemmell explores honour, duty, destiny and the price of freedom. From Connavar’s legendary deeds to the later generations fighting to reclaim their homeland, these are stories about ordinary people rising to extraordinary challenges. There is plenty of thrilling action, memorable characters and supernatural menace, but beneath it all lies a thoughtful examination of loyalty, cultural survival and the importance of protecting the land we call home.
